 Abstract:
Cold spraying was employed to produce Anatas?TiO2 layers with very high photo-catalytic activity on metal surfaces. The activity is about twice as high as for coatings prepared by conventional methods and reaches values comparable to the standard Degussa P25 powder. Maximum activity is expected, if the whole substrate surface is fully covered with TiO2. However, our data indicate that a far lower surface coverage of TiO2 is already sufficient to reach the upper limit. Thus, production costs of photo-catalytically active surfaces may be substantially decreased. The results demonstrate the high application potential for cold-sprayed anatase phase titanium dioxide layers in water- and air cleaning.
