 Abstract:
Cermet coating such as HVOF sprayed WC12Co and hard chrome plating have been widely used on industrial application due to they have outstanding hardness and wear resistance. On the other hand they have poor resistance to impact load because of the ability to dissipate strain energy is lower. In this work NiCr and NiAl powder with different particle sizes are used as metallic phase on WC12Co matrix. The mixed of cermet and metallic powder then sprayed on steel substrate specimen by HVOF thermal spray coating. The coatings were then exposed to repeated impact and sliding wear test. The results confirmed that the metallic phases on the WC12Co matrix were significantly improved impact resistance of coating compared than originally WC12Co coating and hard chrome plating.
