Abstract: |
In cold spraying, several bonding mechanisms has been presented by researchers to explain the bonding between substrate and coatings. In this work, simulations by finite element method (FEM) was performed to analyze the bonding from a viewpoint of mechanics. The minimal bonding strength needed to overcome rebounding at different initial velocity and diameter of particle was calculated by these simulations. The trend of minimal bonding strength needed is supported by a approximate theoretical analysis. The correlation between deposition and the trend of minimal bonding strength needed is discussed.
